Video: Using Alternative Music In Your Square Dance Program – Paul Cote
Paul Cote gives a presentation on using alternative music in square dance programs. Traditional (non-alternative) music is produced specifically for square dancers. Alternative music (which may be contemporary, non-traditional, and not necessarily country music) can provide a more interesting backdrop for your dances (for some people).
This can be a controversial topic, but it needn’t be. It’s merely a question of taste. Some dancers (and callers) will prefer traditional square dance music, some will prefer alternative music, and some will like both. It is up to the caller to decide what is the best music for the setting.
